This production was a performance for the opening of Bisco Hall. It is affiliated with the Korean-American Association of Chicago. As a student leader, I led rehearsals – mainly rehearsing the songs – and also starred as one of the main characters of the show. The show focused on the generational changes Korean- Americans have gone through. Putting on stage the challenges, comedy, heartache, and joy of the generational struggle to maintain a strong Korean cultural identity while still embracing the beauty of the American ideals, focusing mainly on the impact of changes for immigrated family members on the 1st and 2nd generations of Korean- American children. Rehearsing and working with fellow Korean-American students from different schools and all different ages highlighted the different identities each of us made from our Korean heritage, but Working on the musical was an eye opening experience on the cultures of Korea and the lives of the first immigrants in the early 1900s.
