I began playing violin when I was 6, and although moving when I was younger often made it difficult to find teachers, I’ve always maintained my love of this instrument and have continued to practice violin. For the past 7 years I have been blessed to be learning under Injoo Choi. In 2024, I auditioned for Illinois Music Education Association and was selected, which ultimately led to me earning a place in the Illinois All-State Orchestra. As demanding as the repertoire was, the level of musicianship at All-State pushed me to grow technically and musically. Earning the position of 2nd chair of the first violins was an honor. I learned a great deal from playing amongst students who shared my passion for and desire to be immersed in music. Beyond the performing aspect, I have formed meaningful connections and friendships through this experience. All in all, All-State was a valuable experience and I look forward to auditioning again this year.
